William Frederick Hamill

William Hamill passed away at his home on December 11, 2020 at the age of 96. He was born in Highland Park, Michigan on March 3, 1924, son of the late William and Emily Hamill. William worked at Western Michigan University for many years as their architectural project supervisor until his retirement. He was a Mason and a member of the Richland Lions Club as well as a long-time member of the Gull lake United Methodist Church. William loved flying his own plane and going boating.

William is a veteran of the United States Air Force. He was a member of the WWII 449th Bomb Group, Squadron 719 and every two years attended the Bomb Group Meeting at many locations in the U.S. William was able to travel with his grandson, Mike Haley, to go on the Honor Trip from Kalamazoo to Washington DC.

William was preceded in death by his parents and is survived by his beloved wife, Doris Hamill whom he celebrated 75 years of marriage with on August 18. He is also survived by his daughters Darline Haley and Donna Randol; grandchildren: Joshua Haley, Michael Haley and Matthew Haley; great-grandchildren: Silas, Tegan and Chloe; brother Robert Hamill.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made in honor of William to Gull Lake United Methodist Church or Southwest Michigan Hospice.

A memorial service at the Gull Lake United Methodist Church will be held at a later date, followed by burial at Fort Custer National Cemetery.
