William "Bill" Jack Chapman

October 1, 1946 — March 21, 2021

Hickory Corners

Our loving husband and father, William, "Bill" J. Chapman Jr., 74 years old passed away suddenly on Sunday, March 21, 2021. Bill was born on October 1, 1946, in Kalamazoo, MI, to William Chapman Sr. and Kathryn Spencer. He married his only true love, Carol Gazley, on July 3, 1965.

Bill leaves behind his wife of 56 years; Carol and his two sons; Bill (Mindy) Chapman III and Mark (Jeanne) Chapman. Along with 8 grandchildren and 3 great-grandchildren, with one soon on their way. Bill is also survived by his two brothers; Larry Thompson and Barry (Candy) Chapman.

Bill is known as a kind, authentic, and patient man. He was always willing to lend a helping hand to family, friends, and neighbors. He was a gifted artist and craftsman. Every piece of art he created was spectacular. He enjoyed making furniture, hand carving wood, stained glass, taxidermy, oil painting, and even a bit of pottery. Bill and his sons worked on many projects together. Often referring to themselves as Chapman "Construction", Chapman "Wood Cutting", or whatever trade they were working on at the time. He loved his coffee. He loved his Kubota Tractor. He loved working in his woodshop. If he was not in his woodshop, you would often find him down by the pond and his custom hand-built wood cabin enjoying his 12 blissful years of retirement. We are stunned and saddened by his sudden passing. He will forever be deeply missed.

Bill has been cremated and the family is planning to host an open house event in his honor. To view Bill's webpage and leave a tribute, please visit; https://www.langelands.com
