COOK, William J.
of Kalamazoo William J. Cook 83, Bill peacefully joined the love of his life, Dolores Liz on March 6, 2014. Born in Greenfield Township, Pennsylvania to Furl and Hazel Cook in 1930, he married Liz in 1948 while on leave from the Army from which he proudly served as Sgt. First Class. The family moved to Comstock in 1966 where he worked as a machinist at Fisher Body. When Bill retired from GM at the age of 62, they fulfilled their dream to travel all over the United States. His favorite site was S. Dakota's Crazy Horse Monument where he proudly joined the Volksmarch up the mountain in 1999. A lifelong Freemason, Bill leaves behind 4 children Sherry Foust Jim, William Jr. Babs, Lisa Martin Jim , and Doug Kirsten, 11 adoring grandchildren, five great-grandchildren, lifelong friends George and Betty McMillen, many old friends and new-found friends at Comstock Towers who welcomed him into their community with open arms. The family would like to thank Kairos Dwelling and Reverence Hospice for their kindness and support. The family will greet friends on Sunday, March 9th from 2-5pm at the Langeland Family Funeral Homes, Comstock Chapel, 6121 King Highway, Kalamazoo, MI 49048 and Monday from 10-11am prior to the celebration of life service at 11:00am, officiated by Rev. James Dyke. Bill will rest along side of Liz at Fort Custer National Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations graciously accepted to Kairos Dwelling, 2945 Gull Road, Kalamazoo, MI, 49048.
