Vivian Pollack passed away on her 87th birthday. She was born on December 26, 1923 in Newark, New Jersey, the daughter of Sarah and Philip Finkelstein. She moved to Michigan 23 years ago after retiring from the Clark, N.J. Public Schools where she was a high school attendance officer. Prior to that, she was an automotive bookkeeper for 17 years. Vivian was a member of the Congregation of Moses in Kalamazoo. She was an active Sisterhood member, serving as the financial secretary for many years. She was also a lifetime Hadassah member. Over the years she was a volunteer for the American Red Cross, and the Arthritis Foundation.
Survivors include Diane Fogel Harvey, Richland, MI, Jeffrey Pollack Shelly, Carmel, IN. Grandchildren: Jamie Linda Fogel, Kalamazoo, MI., Jonah Elizabeth Fogel, Richmond, VA., Devra Fogel, Longmont, CO., Joshua Pollack Sarah, Indianapolis, IN., Haley Pollack, Carmel, IN. and Great-grandson, Henry Fogel, Richmond, VA. She is also survived by her brother, Leonard and sister, Estelle and many nieces and nephews. Vivian was preceded in death by her husband, Herman, sisters, Mildred Holub, Ruth Amsterdam, Libby Shuster, and brother Murray Finkelstein. Memorial services will be held at Langland Family Funeral Homes, Westside Chapel, 3926 S. 9th Street, Wednesday, December 29, at 11:00am. Rabbi Harvey Spivak will officiate.
