Viola Dolfin went home to be with her Lord December 3, 2015, at the age of 96. Viola was born in Hingham, Wisconsin, June 1, 1919. She was the daughter of Elmer and Alice (TenHaken) Hopeman. She was united in marriage to Reverend Frederic Dolfin on August 25, 1942. They enjoyed 65 years of marriage together. Viola enjoyed her ministry alongside her husband in the Reformed Church of America. They served together in 10 different churches throughout her lifetime in Indiana, Illinois, Wisconsin, and Michigan. She had the gift of hospitality, her and Fred entertained members of their congregations faithfully. She was a member of Centerpoint Church. Viola loved her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ and professed His love and faithfulness. She was a prayer warrior. She loved and enjoyed her children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren, and has passed on a legacy of faith. Viola loved lake activities and waterskiing until she was 85. Preceded in death were her husband, Frederic, her parents, a son Jay Dolfin, son-in-law Gerald Koetje, brother Warren Hopeman, and a sister, Mary Dirkse. Surviving are a daughter Donna Koetje, son Mark Dolfin, daughter Lois (Bill) Bass, and daughter Mary (Robert) DeHaan; grandchildren, Brian (Elaine) Koetje, Jeff (Noelle) Koetje, Chad (Tina) Koetje, Branden (Nicole) DeHaan, Jennifer (Chaz) Kleinhuizen, Jorden and Austen DeHaan, Aaron (LeAnna) Bass, and Allie (EO) Sowerwine; great-grandchildren, Mitchell, Lauren, Rachel, Meghan, Natasha, Trinity, Cassidy, Grace, Olivia, Devin, Ella Koetje and Colten DeHaan. The family will receive friends from 5 to 8 PM on Monday, December 7th at the Langeland Family Funeral Homes, Memorial Chapel, 622 S. Burdick Street. The funeral service will be held 12:30 PM Tuesday, December 8th at Centerpoint Church (2345 North 10th Street) with Rev. Dar VanderWal officiating. Interment will be in Grand Prairie Cemetery. Memorials in Viola's memory may be directed to the Frederic and Viola Dolfin Scholarship Fund at Western Theological Seminary or the Kalamazoo Gospel Mission.
