Age 97 of Kalamazoo Passed away January 25, 2011 at Alamo Nursing Home. Vilma was born March 13, 1913 in Riga, Latvia, a daughter of Janis and Zelma Lodite Vitolins. She immigrated to the United States with her family in 1949 and moved to the Kalamazoo area in 1952. She was employed for 25 years at the James River Paper Company and was a member of the Kalamazoo Evangelical Lutheran United Church. Vilma loved gardening, was an excellent cook and especially loved her children and grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband Karlis Krastins, by a daughter Ilona Kramer and by a sister Elza Runcis and a brother Adolph Vitolins. Surviving are a son and daughter-in-law, Vilnis and Janet Krastins of Mattawan; a son-in-law Roger Kramer of Canada; 4 grandchildren, Kristine Curtis Maleri of Denver, CO, Craig Stacey Krastins of Grand Haven, Eric Kramer of Woodland Hills, CA and Lisa Kramer Michael Watson of Glendale, CA; 6 great-grandchildren, Sedona, Ty, Meghan, Nicholas, Andrew and Charles. Cremation has taken place. Private family services will be held at a later date. Memorial contributions in Vilma's memory may be made to the Kalamazoo Evangelical Lutheran United Church.
