Tom Nyle Johnson died Friday, December 25, 2020 in Kalamazoo, MI. He was born September 17, 1951 in Trieste, Italy a son of Arthur J. and Fabia (Agustelli) Johnson.
Tom grew up the oldest of three brothers and graduated from Portage Northern High School. He served his country in the Air National Guard during the turbulent Vietnam era. He was a butcher/meat cutter by trade in a career that spanned nearly 35 years, 20 of which were spent at Hoekstra Meat Market. His dad was part of the Normandy invasion which ignited a lifelong love of WWII history for Tom. He was the life of any gathering and he truly loved his country. His smile and wit will be missed by all.
Tom was preceded in death by his parents. On April 6, 1984, Tom married the former Cynthia McReaken, who survives. Also surviving are his siblings, Jerry Johnson, Val (Cathy) Johnson, Thelma York, Michelle Edick, and Cindy Johnson; and several nieces and nephews.
Cremation has taken place at Langeland Family Cremation Center, 6628 Tall Oaks Dr, Kalamazoo, MI 49009. Graveside services will be held later in Mount Ever-Rest Memorial Park, South.
