JOHNSON, Timothy L. Timothy Labs Johnson, age 67, passed away surrounded by his family on Saturday evening, July 19, 2014 and went home to be with his Savior. He was born on July 5, 1947 in Kalamazoo, the son of William G. and Dorothy E. Labs Johnson, and has been a lifelong area resident. He was a veteran of the United States Marine Corps serving during the Vietnam Conflict. The Lord blessed Tim with many gifts, among which were is ability to show love and kindness to everyone he met through his immense love of people. He loved God and loved to praise him through singing, various church ministries, and spending time with his church family. He loved Big Ten football, the Detroit Tigers, Camp Barakel, and fondly remembered playing saxophone in a big band. He worked as a Piano Tuner in the area for over 48 years. He loved spending time with his wife and children. Surviving are his loving wife of 26 years, Lori Johnson; four children, Scott fiancé Christi Cantle, Terra Evan Frazier, Caroline and Jessica; in-laws, Dennis and Elaine Irwin; siblings, William Barbara Johnson, Patricia Gill Seddon, Kyle Johnson, and Brady Johnson; brothers-in-law, Gregory Lisa Irwin, Jeffrey Sandra Irwin, Timothy Irwin, and Dennis Irwin; and many nieces and nephews whom he loved dearly. Tim was a kind, generous, compassionate, and loving man, and will be dearly missed. Visitation will be held from 2-4 PM and 6-8 PM on Wednesday, July 23, at Berean Baptist Church, 7813 S. 12th Street, Portage. A funeral service to celebrate Tim's life will be held at 10:30 AM on Thursday, July 24, at the church. Interment with military honors will follow at 2:00 PM at Ft. Custer National Cemetery, Augusta. Memorial contributions may be directed to Camp Barakel, Marine Corps Scholarship Foundation, Berean Baptist Church or Gilmore Piano Camp.
