McKinney, Thelbert D.
of Kalamazoo, Michigan Thelbert passed away Thursday, February 20, 2014 at his home. He was born on September 21, 1926, the son of Roy and Dolly Griffen McKinney. Thelbert was a veteran of the United States Army serving during World War II. On September 27, 1948, he was married to the former Millicent Taylor. Surviving are his wife of 65 years, Millicent McKinney; five children, Elaine Bartlett, Debra McKinney, Ronald Pat McKinney, Donald Pat Salvaggio and Nancy Dan Meek; twelve grandchildren, twenty-three great-grandchildren; one great-great-granddaughter; brother, Frank McKinney; and several nieces and nephews. Preceding him in death were his parents; two brothers, LeRoy and Jack McKinney; three sisters, Ethyel Hawthorne, Rose Stocks and Hazel Craft and one grandson. A funeral service for Thelbert will be held at 12:30 PM on Monday, Feb. 24 at Langeland Family Funeral Homes, Memorial Chapel, 622 S. Burdick Street. Interment with military honors will follow in Ft. Custer National Cemetery. Friends may visit with the family from 4-6 PM on Sunday, Feb. 23, at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be directed to American Heart Association.
