Tammy Lorraine (Wyatt) Whisman was born on December 26, 1960 in Kansas City, Kansas to Roberta Jean (Longwell) and Jack Dale Wyatt. She spent her childhood years growing up in Missouri until life’s adventures and family connections led her to Florida and finally Michigan. She married James Edward “Ed” Whisman, Jr. on May 4, 1985. This marriage blessed her with three children, a stillborn son that she held in her arms for a few precious moments in January of 1986, son Wyatt and daughter Taylor.
Tammy and Ed cultivated a lifelong friendship. Even after their marriage dissolved, they supported each other as best friends do. Common circles and family relationships stayed strong, as they recognized the best in one another.
Through various managerial and support staff positions over the years, Tammy made sure health and home were provided for her children allowing them to become the successes they are today.
Tammy later found companionship and laughter with William Douglas “Bill” Peterson. They enjoyed camping trips, fishing, Chinese food, winning Halloween costume contests, and relaxing at home. They quietly married in a living room ceremony within the home they created on March 6, 2016.
Tammy died on December 27, 2022 at age 62. She is preceded in death by her first son, parents Jean & Jack Wyatt, her first husband Ed Whisman, Jr. and his parents, Ed Sr. & Nancy Whisman, and Bill’s parents Phillip & Irene Peterson. She is survived by her husband Bill, children: Wyatt Whisman (Emily) and Taylor Whisman (David Sjoquist), sister Penny DenHartigh (Don), brother Greg Wyatt (Shari), many nieces and nephews, and great-nieces and nephews.
