Tamea "Ruth" Schurr

SCHURR, Tamea "Ruth" Ruth passed away late Monday evening, December 29, 2014 at Bronson Methodist Hospital. She was born on February 26, 1925 in Clarksburg, WV, the daughter of the late Velnie and Leona Zellers. On November 10, 1945, Ruth was united in marriage to Paul E. Schurr. She was a member of Zion Lutheran Church in Kalamazoo. Ruth was a role model and was loved and admired by everyone she met. When faced with life's many challenges, she would show how tough she was and she would come back with a positive force and a smile. Surviving are five children, Larry Karen Schurr of Lincoln, CA, David Laurel Schurr of Dexter, Nancy David Therkildsen of Kalamazoo, John Barbara Schurr of Richland and Steven Priscilla Bagley Schurr of Kalamazoo; 10 grandchildren; 7 great-grandchildren and sister, Jean Dick Shomaker of Savannah, GA. Preceding her in death were her husband of 48 years, Paul Schurr in 1994 and daughter, Diane Schurr in 1962. Friends may visit with Ruth's family beginning at 10:00 AM on Saturday, January 17, 2015 at The Fountains, 1700 Bronson Way, with a memorial service beginning at 11:00 AM. Pastor Larry Brelje will officiate. A reception will follow the memorial service until 2:00 PM at The Fountains. Memorial contributions may be directed to Hospice Care of Southwest Michigan, Zion Lutheran Church or National Multiple Sclerosis Society. Arrangements have been entrusted to Langeland Family Funeral Homes.
