LINDSAY, Sally Ann
Richland Sally passed away Tuesday, July 15, 2014 at home. She was born November 23, 1929 in Traverse City, MI, the daughter of the late Clifford E. and Marion L. Baynton Schwab, and was a Richland resident since 1960. Sally graduated from Battle Creek High School and Western Michigan University. She was a business teacher at Ionia and Battle Creek high schools for several years. Later, Sally devoted much of her personal and professional life to serving people with developmental and intellectual disabilities, and working with others to expand opportunities for these individuals. She was ever grateful for the many friends she made through this involvement. She loved keeping up with family members from near and far and visits from her substitute grandchildren Emily, Eli, Ceci and Holly. On June 15, 1957, she married John "Jack" Lindsay, who preceded her in death on July 15, 2009. She was also preceded by her son, John J. Lindsay; brothers, William Schwab and Roland Schwab; and brother-in-law, Joseph Lindsay. Sally is survived by her daughter, Ann Lindsay of Richland; sister, Pamela Lyster of Salinas, CA; sisters-in-law, Mary Schwab of Ann Arbor, MI and Dorothy Schwab of Lakewood, CA; and many beloved cousins, nieces, nephews, grandnieces and grandnephews. A private memorial service is planned, with burial at a later date at Ft. Custer National Cemetery.
