Ruth Anne Lando

Ruth died on Monday, April 18, 2011 in Kalamazoo, MI. She was born April 15, 1921 in Toronto, Ontario, Canada, a daughter of Harry and Mary Levy Kaufman and moved to Kalamazoo in 1945. Ruth was a member of the Congregation of Moses and very active in Hadassah, serving at the local, regional, and national levels. She also volunteered many hours in the community. On August 11, 1946, Ruth was united in marriage with Irving Lando, who preceded her in death on June 11, 2003. She was also preceded in death by: a daughter, Liane Lando; a son, David Lando; her parents and a brother, Lawrence Kaufman. Surviving are three children: Levi Chaya Lando of Chicago, Robert Tema Lando of Kalamazoo, and Lori Eric Beck of Bishop, CA; eleven grandchildren; a sister, Gertrude Abe Rudover of Windsor, Ontario; sister-in-law, Eileen Malone of Essex, Ontario; and many nieces and nephews. Ruth was a special friend to many and an inspiration to everyone. Services will be held at 11:00 Thursday, April 21, at Langeland Family Funeral Homes, Westside Chapel, 3926 South 9th St., Kalamazoo, MI 49009, with Rabbi Harvey Spivak officiating. Interment in Jewish Riverside Cemetery will follow the service. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions should be directed to Hadassah.
