JOHNSON, Roy P.
Kalamazoo Roy passed away Thursday, May 8, 2014 at his home. He was born on June 14, 1929 in Allegan, the son of the late Henry and Dena Berens Johnson. Roy was a veteran of the United States Army serving during the Korean Conflict. On June 27, 1951, he was united in marriage to the former Mary E. Jones. Roy was employed by Brown Co. until his retirement. Surviving are his two children, Sharon Alvarado of Midlothian, VA and Kevin Vicki Johnson of Commerce Twp., MI; four grandchildren, Kristol Bob Boisseau of VA, Dr. Natalie Johnson of TN, Audrey Johnson of VA and Lindsey Johnson of Ypsilanti; great-grandchildren, Mary, Robert and Olivia; and numerous nieces and nephews. Preceding him in death was his wife of 40 years, Mary E. Johnson on February 14, 1992; 1 sister, Ruth Wasco and 6 brothers, Melvin, Bernie, Howard, Hollis, Willis and Russell Johnson. A funeral service for Roy will be held at 1:00 PM on Monday, May 12, at Langeland Family Funeral Homes, Memorial Chapel, 622 S. Burdick Street, Kalamazoo, MI where friends may visit with the family from 11:00 AM until the time of service. Private interment will be in East Cooper Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be directed to Great Lakes Caring Hospice.
