Ronald Blaine Bowman, age 78, died July 18, 2019 at his residence in Portage, MI. Ron was born December 26, 1940 in Battle Creek, Michigan, the son of Donald and Marjorie (Harris) Bowman. For over 20 years, from 1958 until 1978 he served in the U.S. Navy as an electrician. Following his time in the service he was employed with Builders Square and later was self-employed as a locksmith, operating Portage Lock Service. Ron enjoyed crossword puzzles and was an avid reader, who was constantly reading or on the computer.
Family was a very important part of Ron's life. On December 28, 1973, he was united in marriage to Nedra (Clarke) Bowman, who preceded him in death on July 16, 2011. He was also preceded in death by his parents; a son Michael Bowman and a daughter Connie Black. Surviving are his daughter Hope (Pete) Partanen; several grandchildren and great-grandchildren; his brother Dennis Bacon.
In accordance with Ron's wishes cremation has taken place. A memorial graveside service with full military honors will be held at a later date in Ft. Custer National Cemetery. The family requests in lieu of flowers, memorials in Ron's memory may be directed to Hospice Care of Southwest Michigan.
