of Kalamazoo, Michigan Robert H. Thomas passed away April 17, 2012. He was born April 7, 1924, in Kalamazoo, MI, a son of Lewis and Florence Thomas. Bob was a High Priest of the Masons, Kalamazoo Lodge #13 as well as a lifetime member. He served on the City of Kalamazoo Mechanical Board. Bob worked at Associated Mechanical Services for 28 years before retiring in 1983. He and his wife, Flo, moved to Florida where he enjoyed flying and golf. They lived there for 23 years before returning to Kalamazoo. Bob was a private pilot and enjoyed many years flying his Moony plane for breakfasts with his flying buddies or on vacation trips. He was a member of the 12th Street Baptist Church. A WWII veteran, Bob served on the USS Davison. He was preceded in death by: his wife of 4l years, FloRose; an infant son, Michael; his parents; a brother, Don; four sisters, Marguerite, Esther, Louise, and Pauline; and a grandson, Brian Sherfield. Surviving are: two sisters, Ruth Helmar and Alice Diedrikson; two daughters, Roberta Bob Narlock of Plainwell and Wendy Tommy Wright of West Virginia; two stepdaughters, Andrea Art Kidney of Portage and Penni Don Richards of Kalamazoo; six grandchildren and four great grandchildren. Services will be held 3:00 Friday afternoon at Langeland Family Funeral Homes, Memorial Chapel, 622 S. Burdick Street, with Pastor Randy Burnett of the 12th Street Baptist Church, officiating. Family will receive guests beginning at 2:00 Friday afternoon at the funeral home. Interment in Alamo Cemetery with military honors follows services. Memorials should be directed to the American Cancer Society.
