RICKS, Robert A. "Bob"
of Portage, Michigan Bob went home to be with the Lord, Tuesday evening, September 24, 2013. Bob was born October 18, 1926 in Chicago, IL the son of Russell and Gullia Ice Ricks and had been a Portage resident for over 50 years. He was a veteran serving in the U.S. Navy during World War II. He was a graduate of Northwestern University with a degree in Accounting which he used his entire life with several firms until his retirement in 1988. Even after his retirement he was still preparing taxes for many people. He was a member of Texas Corners Bible Church. Bob enjoyed trains, collecting arrowheads, playing tennis, pitching horseshoes, and music. On July 18, 1953 he was united in marriage to his loving wife of 60 years, the former Elsie Bennett who survives. Also surviving are his children, Philip R. Ricks, Roberta Ron Raflik; 2 grandchildren, Joshua and Shannon; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by a sister, Sara Rees. A memorial service to celebrate Bob's life will be held Monday, September 30 at 11:00 am at the Texas Corners Bible Church, 7780 South 8th Street. Friends may meet the family one hour prior to the service at church. Private family interment will be held at a later date.
