Robert "Bob" Gernaat, Sr

GERNAAT, Robert Sr. "Bob"
of Plainwell, Michigan Went to be with the Lord Tuesday morning, December 3, 2013. Bob was born August 8, 1934 in Kalamazoo the son of the late Harm and Suzanna DeFouw Gernaat. He was a veteran serving in the U.S. Army. Bob worked for several years with Wells Aluminum but his passion was being the custodian for over 40 years at Hope Reformed Church where he was also a member. Bob was a kind person and could always be seen with a smile on his face. On January 25, 1958 he was united in marriage to his loving wife Pat, who survives. Also surviving are his children, Bob Jr. Kathy Gernaat, Tom Jan Gernaat, Bill Heather Gernaat, Amy Chris Adams; grandchildren, Rhiannon Daren Sage, Matt Meg Gernaat, Kendra Gernaat, Bryan, Alyssa and Kristin Adams, Zachary, Mackenzie and Madison Gernaat; great-grandchildren, Gavin, Ella, Natalie, and Giana; and several brother and sisters in law, nieces, nephews and cousins. A service to celebrate Bob's life will be held at 1:00 pm Saturday, December 7, at Hope Reformed Church, 910 Jenks Blvd, with Pastor Kent Frens officiating. Friends may meet the family Friday from 2-4 and 6-8 pm at the Langeland Family Funeral Homes, Westside Chapel, 3926 South 9th Street and from 12:00-1:00 Saturday at the church. Private family interment will be in Ft. Custer National Cemetery on Monday with full military honors. Memorials may be directed to Hope Reformed Church.
