Richard "Dick" Doorlag, age 89, passed away Saturday May 22, 2021. He was born September 29, 1931 in Kalamazoo to the late Henry and Rena (Engberts) Doorlag. Dick was a veteran of the US Army, serving in the Korean War. He married Marilyn Vos on June 29, 1956 in Kalamazoo and she survives him. Dick retired from the City of Kalamazoo after 35 yrs as a heavy equipment operator. He enjoyed camping, traveling, going to the cabin, woodworking and wintering in Florida and Arizona after his retirement. His greatest love was his family, especially his grandchildren whom he adored. Surviving Dick are his loving wife, Marilyn; children, Brenda (John) Longmore, Rick (Lynda) Doorlag, Kevin (Denise) Doorlag; 7 grandchildren; 5 great grandchildren; 1 great great grandchild; brothers and sisters, Garrett Doorlag, Edward (Pat) Doorlag, John Doorlag, Jim (Ruth) Doorlag, Alyce Bosma, Robert (Judy) Doorlag and numerous in-laws, nieces, nephews and cousins. He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers and sisters, Elzo, Harm, Jerry, Henry, Ada Vlietstra, and Hattie Irwin. Funeral Services will be held at 11:00 am Wednesday, May 26, 2021 at North Park Reformed Church 1316 Barney Rd. Kalamazoo, MI 49004. The family will greet friends at the church from 10:00 am to 11:00 am on Wednesday.
