DINDA, Richard Paul Passed away October 5, 2014 at age 60. Richard was born January 19, 1954 in Kalamazoo to the late Roger and Harriett Kroeger Dinda. Richard worked as a security officer for his entire adult life, mostly for Charles Services, Inc., and its successor companies. While CSI posted him to guard a number of businesses, for much of his career he watched the gate at Checker Motors. He was a bicyclist for much of his life. He was a member of the Kalamazoo Bicycle Club for many years and a Life Member of the League of American Bicyclists. For much of his life his bicycle was his main form of transportation, using it to commute to work and to attend classes at KVCC. Other interests included rail fanning, his cats, walking the beach at Lake Michigan, and photography. Richard was also a coffee enthusiast. He was passionate about causes. When he was young he was active in the Democratic Party and other organizations. Late in life he was just as passionate but less able to devote his efforts to such work. Richard was a very active member of Lutheran Church of the Savior in Kalamazoo. At one time he operated the church sound system. Other church-related activities included playing guitar at folk services, organizing annual outings, and representing the congregation on the steering committee of the Greater Kalamazoo CROP walk organization. Richard is survived by his brother, Joel Joan Bennett Dinda and sister, Debra Dinda; and several cousins, aunts and uncles. The family will greet friends on Thursday, October 9th from 6-8pm at the Langeland Family Funeral Homes, Memorial Chapel, 622 S. Burdick St. The funeral service will take place on Friday, 10:30 at the Lutheran Church of the Savior, 3616 East G Ave., Rev. Andrew Tengwall officiating. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to the church or to WMUK Radio.
