ROUSE, Raymond J., Jr.
Portage Died December 19, 2013 at age 86. Raymond was born June 17, 1927 in Cincinnati, OH to the late Raymond and Martha Wilson Rouse, Sr. Raymond was united in marriage to Jean Rouse, who preceded him in death. He was then later united in marriage to Mary Jane DeSmit, who survives. Raymond served in the U.S. Navy from July of 1944 until honorably discharged as a Seaman 1st Class, in June of 1946. His unit was responsible for the building of the Boganville Airfield on New Hebrides Island off of Japan. Raymond worked in the Inspection Department of the Federal Government for over 15 years. He was a member of Pathfinder Church in Portage and a 50 year member of the Grand Lodge of Free & Accepted Masons of Ohio. He enjoyed traveling with his wife, Mary. Surviving Raymond are his wife, Mary Rouse of Portage; daughter, Brenda Sven Rouse-Hendrickson; step-daughter, Karen Mayne; step-sons, Bill, Ron & Larry Johnson; and many step grandchildren & great grandchildren. Visitation on Saturday, December 21st, from 1-2 at the Langeland Family Funeral Homes, Portage Chapel, 411 E. Centre Ave., where services will take place at 2:00, Pastor John Moore officiating. A private burial will take place at Ft. Custer National Cemetery.
