BOWER, Paul A.
of Kalamazoo, Michigan Passed away January 8, 2013 at the age of 81. Paul was born November 28, 1931 in Kalamazoo. He was united in marriage to Kay F. Frances on June 12, 1954, who preceded him in death in August of 2012. Paul served in the U.S. Army from 15 February 1952 until honorably discharged on 27 January 1954. Paul loved animals and volunteered at Binder Park Zoo for many years. He also loved to travel and had many adventures in Ireland, England, Scotland and toured the U.S. many times. Surviving Paul are his children, William Geneva Bower of Dimondale, MI, Bonnie Dave Garten of Portage, Steve Cyndee Bower of Kalamazoo and Mark Bower of Kalamazoo; 10 grandchildren; and 11 great grandchildren; sisters, Rosetta Stermer, Shirley Thompson and Donna Jim Korp; and many nieces and nephews. Paul is also preceded in death by 2 brothers. Family will greet friends on Friday, January 11th from 2-4 and 6-8 at the Langeland Family Funeral Homes, Memorial Chapel, 622 S. Burdick St., where services will be held Saturday, January 12th at 1:00 o'clock, Pastor Scott Burdick officiating. Interment will take place at Ft. Custer National Cemetery on Tuesday, January 15th at 10:00 o'clock. Those wishing to attend committal service should arrive at 622 S. Burdick St. at 9:00 am, Tuesday, to join the funeral procession. Memorials may be directed to Best Friends Animal Society or to Elephant Sanctuary.
