MARRIOTT, Patrick of Mattawan Passed away Friday, June 17, 2011. Patrick was born March 22, 1928 in Battle Creek, a son of John A. and Elizabeth Traynor Marriott. He lived in the Kalamazoo area for many years and was a member of St Joseph Catholic Church. He attended Loyal University in CA and Western Michigan University in Kalamazoo. He proudly served his country in the United States Air Force, during the Korean War and served at the Pentagon, where he was in charge of the attaches around the world. When he left the service, Patrick worked in the banking business and the real estate profession and owned Appraisal Associates for many years. He was an avid golfer and loved sports, in particular his beloved Notre Dame. On August 7, 1954, he married Joyce A. Bower, who preceded him in death on December 5, 2004. He was also preceded in death by his parents; and a brother, Robert E. Marriott. Patrick is survived by his best friend in his later years, Barb Morren of Mattawan; his sister, Margaret Ann Marriott Wirsing; his brothers, Thomas J. Betty Marriott, Joseph E. Mary Lou Marriott and Michael Dawn Marriott all of CA; several nieces and nephews. Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Tuesday at 11:00 AM in St. Joseph Catholic Church, 936 Lake St. with Msgr. Michael Hazard and Rev. Fr. Anthony Bitchapogu, celebrants. Interment will follow in Mt. Olivet Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the Langeland Family Funeral Homes, Westside Chapel, 3926 S. 9th St. on Monday from 2-4 and 6-8 PM, with a Rosary Service at 6:00 PM. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to Battle Creek St. Phillip School, or a charity of one's choice.
