Of Mattawan Jo passed away early Saturday morning, May 3, 2014 at Rose Arbor Hospice Residence in Kalamazoo. She was born on July 16, 1935 in Elwood, Indiana. On July 3, 1956, Jo was united in marriage to William Dale McQueen, who preceded her in death on September 24, 2009. Also preceding her in death were her parents, Book and Margaret Hobbs Phillips and son, Anthony McQueen. Surviving are her three grandchildren, Sarah, Andrew, and Elizabeth McQueen; great-grandson, Anthony Michael McQueen; daughter-in-law, Mary McQueen; her many caregivers, Kathy Lower, Connie Caporossi, Cathy Caporossi, Marge McQueen, Melissa Polderman and Sasha Hoyle; longtime friends, Jim and Sophia Gano; and her little dog and companion, Dewey. Funeral services for Jo will be at 11:00 AM on Wednesday, May 7, at Langeland Family Funeral Homes, Westside Chapel, 3926 S. 9th Street. Friends may visit with the family from 6-8 PM on Tuesday at the funeral home. As an expression of sympathy, memorial contributions may be directed to Rose Arbor Hospice Residence.
