DERUYSCHER, MYRTICE
Of Portage Myrtice Roberta DeRuyscher, age 87, went home to be with her Lord on April 5, 2014. Myrtice was born December 30, 1926, in Atlanta, Georgia, the daughter of Walter and Lois Church Gordon. On May 12, 1945 she was united in marriage to Peter DeRuyscher, Jr. She became a Portage area resident in 1946 and for over 25 years she was employed at Gilmore Brothers Department Store. Myrtice was a member of the First Reformed Church of Portage for many years. She enjoyed the outdoors, reading, aerobics and dancing, but the most important part of her life was spending time with her family. On November 17, 1994 she was preceded in death by her husband, Peter DeRuyscher, Jr. She was also preceded in death by her parents; and sisters, Madge Hardy and Elaine Pitner. Surviving are her children, Deborah Kenneth Larson of Portage and Robert Marcy DeRuyscher of Oxford, MS; grandchildren, Amy Gena Lebedev, Jason Nicole Larson, Tamara Paul Austin, Lisa Matthew Scott, Jami Jason Howard; thirteen great-grandchildren; sisters, Alice Wynn, Eleanor Garrott and Jane Fred Higgins; and many nieces and nephews. The family will receive friends from 6-8 PM on Wednesday, April 9th at the Langeland Family Funeral Homes, Portage Chapel, 411 E. Centre Street. Funeral Services will be held 11:00 AM Thursday, April 10th at the First Reformed Church of Portage 7905 S. Westnedge Ave with Pastor Clayton Smith officiating. A private family interment will be held in Mt. Ever-Rest Memorial Park South. Memorials in Myrtice's memory may be directed to First Reformed Church of Portage or Rose Arbor Hospice.
