Max passed away Saturday morning, January 30, 2021 at his home in Parchment, MI. Max was born July 24, 1933 in Kalamazoo, the son of Bertrum and Ora (Keyser) Harvey. He graduated from Vicksburg High School and served in the U.S. Air Force during the Korean Conflict as an Avionics Technician. Max was a qualified sharpshooter and also served as the base photographer at Thule, Greenland. He was employed prior to and following his military service by KVP (Brown Company, James River Corp.) in Parchment, for over 40 years, until his retirement as a paper tester. Soon after his USAF discharge, he was united in marriage to his loving wife Shirley (Blackburn) on December 7, 1956 who preceded him in death on August 13, 1991. He was also preceded in death by a grand-daughter, Samantha Harvey. Max is survived by his children, Stephen Harvey, Lori Harvey, Sheri (David) Schmitt, Hope King (foster); grandchildren, Allison, Joel, Vanessa Harvey, Joshua Schmitt; great grandchildren, Lilah Mills, Sammy and Aria Harvey; sister, Marilyn (Bob) Johnston, several nieces and nephews. Max loved his Chinese Crested dogs, enjoyed classical and bluegrass music, travel, golf, photography, and watching and feeding the wildlife around his home, especially the birds and squirrels. He fondly remembered his formative years with the Air Force through his own photographs and proudly displayed them in his home. Private visitation and services will be held at Langeland Family Funeral Homes, 622 S. Burdick, Kalamazoo, MI 49007. Remote audio-video attendance will also be provided.
