SHADER, Mary Russell
of Portage Passed away May 1, 2011 at home. She was born November 1, 1945 in Detroit, MI. Mary was united in marriage to Gary Shader, who preceded her in death in November of 2009. Everyone who knew Mary knows she was fiercely devoted to her six children and sixteen grandchildren. Her family and friends will remember her as someone who fought with great courage and humor. Surviving Mary are her children, Jason Kelly Russell of Caledonia, MI, Scott Russell of Portage, Kenneth Newman of Naples, FL, Cheryl Drew Zahn of Grand Junction, MI, Lisa Newman Hoag of Kalamazoo and Warren Becca Newman of Mattawan; 16 grandchildren; sisters, Ina Bill Laughton and Nacy Saad; brother, Billy Christner; and many nieces and nephews. Mary would want to recognize special friends, Bobby and Carol and Tom and Patty. A funeral service will take place Friday, 1:00PM at the Langeland Family Funeral Homes, Portage Chapel, 411 East Centre Ave. Memorials in Mary's name may be directed to Borgess Visiting Nurses and Hospice Association.
