Kalamazoo, MI Died Monday morning April 16, 2012. Mary was born January 9, 1926 in Battle Creek, Michigan a daughter of Edgar and Vinnie Chiesman Case. She had been a lifelong Kalamazoo area resident and was employed as a nanny for many years before retiring. Mary was also a member of the 12th Street Baptist Church and enjoyed teaching piano lessons, bowling, reading, and playing card games and puzzles on the computer. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Kenneth L. Hickey on December 7, 1997; and a sister, Iva Gettys. Mary is survived by 2 children, Kevin Hickey of Portage and Kathy Hickey of Kalamazoo; a grandson, Joshua Murphy; and several nieces and nephews. Services will be held 11o'clock Friday at the 12th Street Baptist Church, 3911 South 12th St. Visitation will be 6-8pm Thursday at the Langeland Family Funeral Homes, Memorial Chapel, 622 S. Burdick St. and one hour prior to the service at the church. Interment will be in South Portage Cemetery. Memorials may be directed to Rose Arbor Hospice or the 12th Street Baptist Church.
