Age 66 Loving wife and widow of Alan K. Bonine.
Devoted mother to Dan and Stacey Bonine and Cara and Mike Leahy.
Adored grandmother of Madison Bonine, Joshua Bonine, Margaret Leahy, Caitlyn Leahy and Julia Leahy. She is survived by sisters and brothers Lois and Sherman Hollander, Charles and Kathy MacDonald, Lori Bonine Wise and John Turbeville, Albert and Cheryl Bonine Garcia, Fred and Shawn Bonine. She is also survived by her nieces and nephews Tameira Hollander, Larissa Hollander and Sean Goodwin, Sara and Dino Gargasoulas, Katy and Brandon Hill, Charles MacDonald, Scott MacDonald and Eva Schmidt, Jeffrey Shilling, Laurie and Charlie George, Lisa Wise and Eric Frost, Cheryl and Nathaniel Papadakis, Sara Wise and Pete Lumbert, Anya and David Cobler, Aaron and Lauren Bonine, Brandon and Brittany Bonine. She is also survived by her many loving cousins and friends. She was predeceased by her parents Marshall and Helen Johnson MacDonald and Kenneth and Neva Waltz Bonine. She graduated from Portage High School in 1965 and University of Michigan in 1969. While earning a Master of Arts in education, she was able to travel the world including Africa, Asia and Europe. She found a home in Galesburg where she raised her children and taught fifth grade at the Augusta Intermediate School. When her husband became ill, she cared for him at their home and remained devoted to him after his passing in 2001. She was a passionate community volunteer who was involved with 4-H, the Galesburg- Augusta "Think College Early" program, and The Cass County Underground Railroad Society. Mary Anne believed in the strength of her family, the power of her community and our own ability to make a difference in this world. This foundation provides educational scholarships to Galesburg-Augusta High School seniors yearly. Services will be held at the Congregational United Church of Christ in Galesburg on Wednesday, December 4th at 11:00am. Reverend Whitney Brown will officiate.
