REEVES, Mr. Martin A. "Mike"
Portage, MI Died Tuesday morning November 9, 2010. Mike was born November 25, 1923 in Alva, Florida the son of Cash and Mary Richards Reeves. He was a Veteran of WWII, serving under General George Patton. He had been a Kalamazoo area resident since 1952 and was employed with the Michigan Department of Transportation for 41 years, retiring in 1987. Martin was a member of the Oakwood Bible Church. He was preceded in death by his parents; 2 brothers, Donald and Alton Reeves; 2 sisters, Reva Sheriff and Marilyn Leonhardt. On December 31, 1943, he was united in marriage to Norma L. Tompkins Reeves who survives. Also surviving, 3 children, Carolyn Fred Neubauer of Portage, MI, Gerald Susan Reeves of Mattawan, and Michael Annette Reeves of Ovid, MI; 6 grandchildren; 6 great-grandchildren; 2 sisters-in-law, Joyce Heller of Coldwater, MI and Evelyn Eugene Kelsey of Findley, OH; a brother-in-law, Edward "Ted" Lucy Tompkins of Rosella, UT; and many nieces and nephews. A memorial service will be held 10 o'clock Friday at the Oakwood Bible Church, 4100 Oakland Drive. Friends may meet the family one hour prior to the service at the church. Private burial will be in Ft. Custer National Cemetery with Full Military Honors. Memorials may be directed to the Oakwood Bible Church or Hospice Care of Southwest Michigan.
