Marlene Bussema

October 12, 1933 — September 23, 2018

Went to her heavenly home with the Lord on Sunday morning, September 23, 2018. Marlene was born October 12, in Columbus, Kansas, the daughter of the late Floyd and Gladys Smith (Billie Legg). She and her husband, Bill, owned Bill's Lock Shop where she worked for many years. Marlene attended Texas Corners Bible Church and had a love for the systematic teaching of the Bible that she received there. She also loved her church family and had an unwavering faith in God, facing every problem with complete reliance upon her ever-present Lord. Marlene loved being "Grammie", spending time with her grandchildren and attending their various events. She also enjoyed the Peanuts character "Snoopy". On September 29, 1950 she was united in marriage to William "Bill" Bussema, who preceded her in death on October 21, 2017. She was also preceded in death by a daughter-in-law, Judy Bussema. Marlene is survived by her children, Connie Graham, Terry Bussema, Tracy (Gregg) Hageman-Andres; 12 grandchildren, 9 great grandchildren, and 2 great-great grandchildren; a sister, Dorothy "Dottie" Schallhorn; and several nieces and nephews. Services will be held at 11:00am Friday, October 5 at Texas Corners Bible Church, 7780 S. 8th Street, with Rev. David Thompson officiating. Friends may meet the family from 10:00-11:00am Friday prior to the service at church. Interment will be in Mt. Ever-Rest Cemetery following a luncheon after the service.
