Marjorie A. (King) Baker

December 3, 1932 — August 9, 2019

Marjorie A. Baker, age 86 of Texas Township, died at home under hospice care on August 9, 2019. She was born December 3, 1932, the daughter of Loyd and Ruby (Gramling) King. Marj was an elementary school and special education teacher in the Lawton School District for many years, along with substitute teaching in neighboring areas. Her focus was on the quality of a child's education along with their social wellbeing. On January 30, 1954, Marjorie married Lawrence Baker. They enjoyed wintering in Oklahoma in their retirement and time spent traveling together. She is survived by her children: Stephen Baker and Kevin Baker; her grandchildren Dena Baker and Kristopher Baker; and her two great-grandchildren. Marjorie is preceded in death by her husband Larry Baker and her sons Gerald and David Baker. Visitation will be held from 2 PM to 4 PM on Saturday, August, 17, 2019, at Langeland Family Funeral Homes Burial & Cremation Services, 3926 S 9th St, Kalamazoo, MI 49009. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that in memory of Marj you make donations to your local elementary school teacher for necessary school supplies.
