Lynne Louanne (Merkle) Hughson, age 83, passed away August 17, 2018 in Kalamazoo. Lynne was born September 25, 1934 in Battle Creek. She was the daughter of Zola and Peter DePotter. Lynne was a member of the Upper Room Church of God in Christ. For over 15 years she provided child day care in her home for many families. Most of all she loved spending time with her family and especially her grandchildren. In 1952 she was united in marriage to Donald M. Hughson, who preceded her in death in 2000. She was also preceded in death by her parents and a brother Larry Dean. In 2015 she was united in marriage to Bob Merkle, who survives. Also surviving are her three daughters Deborah (Tom) Danger, Kim (David) Olson, Colleen (Steve) Bishop; five grandchildren David (Jennifer) Olson, Jr., Harvey Heeres, Ryan (Allison) Olson, Nathan (Amy) Heeres, Rachel (Justin) Haney; and nine great-grandchildren. The family will receive friends from 10:00 to 11:00AM on Wednesday August 22nd at the Langeland Family Funeral Homes, Memorial Chapel, 622 S. Burdick Street, where funeral services will begin at 11:00AM Wednesday August 22nd. Interment will follow in Mt. Ever-Rest Cemetery. Memorials may be directed to Hospice Care of Southwest Michigan.
