of Kalamazoo, MI
On Friday, January 15, 2021, Linda Lea Maze (Gibbs) passed away at the age of 88. Linda was born on January 14, 1933 in Kalamazoo, Michigan to H. Olin and Evelyn A. (McMillan) Gibbs. She graduated from Kalamazoo Central High School in 1951. She attended Western Michigan College of Education and received a Certificate of Achievement in Secretarial Science in 1953. While in college, she joined the Delta Zeta sorority. She found her niche when Miller Auditorium opened in 1968 and she became the Administrative Assistant to the Director. She worked there for twenty-six years and retired from Western Michigan University in 1994. She loved the Arts and as a young woman was the Head of Makeup at the Civic Theater. She was able to share her love of theater by bringing her family to see many great shows at Miller Auditorium. Another thing she enjoyed was watching the B.B.C and British programs on P.B.S. After retiring, Linda was able to travel abroad. She enjoyed trips to France, Italy and England. Linda even went back to college to learn French. This came in handy when she accompanied a group of high-school students to France with her good friend Sandy Rozelle. She is survived by her sister, Carolyn J. Hoyt, a daughter, Karen (Maze) White, a niece, Allison K. Croessmann, a grandson, Brandon M. White and a granddaughter, Désirée N. White. Cremation has taken place.
