Passed away Tuesday morning, November 15, 2016 at his residence. Larry was born April 2, 1938 in Kalamazoo the son of the late William and Merna (Strong) Wortinger. He was employed with the Eaton Corporation for 28 years until his retirement. In high school track he held Galesburg-Augusta's mile record for several years. Larry was active in the Charleston Township Fire Dept., motorcycle racing; and later in life auto racing, coaching summer softball at Galesburg for many years, and was involved with the G-A athletics for over 40 years. He was an avid hunter, loved to show his champion hounds and had a lifelong love of music. On August 2, 1956 he was united in marriage to his loving wife of 60 years, Carol (Ford), who survives. Also surviving are his children, Dana Randall, Misty (Jerry) Johnson, Biff Wortinger, Anita (Ken) O'Halloran, Jake (Paula) Wortinger; a special friend of the family Brenda Town; 7 grandchildren; 6 great-grandchildren; brothers, Robert (Janice) Wortinger, Dennis (Sinda) Wortinger; and several nieces and nephews. A memorial service to celebrate Larry's life will be held at 11:00am Saturday November 19, at the Scotts Community Center, 8450 36th Street in Scotts. Private family interment will be held at a later date. Memorials may be directed to the Galesburg-Charleston Fireman Association or Reverence Hospice.
