Lane passed away on Tuesday evening, February 13, 2018 at his home. He was born on March 22, 1949 in South Bend, IN, the son of Cleo and Ermajean (Humphrey) Smous. He spent his career as a Plastic Mold Design Engineer. Lane enjoyed hunting, movies, dancing and music. He always had a smile on his face and loved spending time with his family and friends. Surviving are his wife of 29 years: Alice Smous; two children: Dustin Smous of Indiana and Cari Cooper of California; two grandchildren: Aries and Avery; and mother: Ermajean Schneider of Portage. Preceding him in death were his father; two infant children; sister: Annette Rupchock; and brother: Brian Smous. Honoring his wishes, cremation has taken place. Private family services and inurnment will be in Mt. Pleasant Cemetery, South Bend, Indiana at a later date. It is suggested that an unexpected act of kindness be made to someone in memory of Lane.
