LaRue "Lou" Welch

WELCH, LaRue "Lou", 81, of Kalamazoo, passed away peacefully on Friday morning, May 13, 2016 in Kalamazoo. He was born on April 23, 1935 in Lansing, MI. Lou was a proud veteran of the United States Air Force. He was employed by General Motors Co. for 43 years as an electrician until his retirement in 1996. Lou was also a member of Lansing UAW Local #652. He was a huge sports fan, Let's Go Blue! Surviving are his wife of 34 years, Cathy Welch of Kalamazoo; 7 children: Eddie (Cathy), John, Patrick (Julie), Mary, Judy, Vicki (Bud), and Muriel; 14 grandchildren; several great-grandchildren; 2 brothers, Bob and Gary; sister, Bertie; and several nieces and nephews. Preceding him in death were his parents, Ruel and Bertice (Carr) Welch; daughter, Anna; and former spouse, Marietta. Honoring Lou's wishes, cremation has taken place and there will be no visitation or service. Memorial contributions may be directed to American Cancer Society. Arrangements were entrusted to Langeland Family Funeral Homes, Kalamazoo.
