GERNAAT, Judith Ann
On Wednesday, February 4, 2015, Judy was suddenly called to her Eternal Home by her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. She was born January 24, 1935 in Kalamazoo, the oldest daughter of the late Donald and Frances Butler DePriester and was a lifelong resident of the area. Judy was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother and was involved in the family business. She enjoyed attending special events where her grandchildren were involved. Judy and Gerald loved golfing and played many rounds together at the Crestview Golf course and courses up North. Judy was a member of Centerpoint Church and was very active in Cooper Township voting activities, and served as a voting official for the township for over 30 years. On June 14, 1963, she married Gerald Gernaat, who survives. Also surviving are their sons, Bruce Gernaat and Tim Vicky Gernaat; grandchildren, Jacob, Benjamin, Alyssa, Kylie and Kennedy; a brother, Jack Judy DePriester; a sister, Jane Dave Morandini; several nieces and nephews. Judith was preceded in death by her brother, Jerry DePriester. The family will receive friends at the Langeland Family Funeral Homes, Westside Chapel, 3926 S. 9th St. on Sunday, today, from 3:00 to 6:00 PM. Funeral services will be held on Monday, February 9, 2015 at 11:00 AM in the Centerpoint Church, with Rev. Dr. Jeffrey Porte officiating. Interment will follow in West Cooper Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to Centerpoint Church Building Fund or the charity of one's choice.
