Passed away Thursday November 24, 2016 at his home. John was born April 19, 1967 in Kalamazoo the son of the late Edward and Margaret Phillips. While working he was a cook in several area restaurants. He is survived by his son, John Edward Ray Phillips; grandson, Elijiah Phillips-Oni; sisters, Terri Phillips (Ron Daniel), Mary Sue Phillips; nieces and nephews, Katina, Darnell, Sarah, Brock, Joshua, Sophie, Reagen, Donovan, Keith, Aleah, and Lilly; his cousins, John McPherson, Teresa Sellers; his most favorite uncle, Jimmy Otto; and several other nieces, nephews and cousins. A memorial gathering to celebrate John's life will be held from 1-5pm on January 14, at the Brimstone, 1802 Fulford (formerly Shortstop Bar). Memorials may be directed to the family.
