John L. Loofboro

LOOFBORO, John L.
of Plainwell, Michigan John passed away Monday evening, February 3, 2014 at his home. He was born on April 24, 1934 in New Auburn, WI, the son of Leo and Hazel Lane Loofboro. John was employed by Otto Kihm Truck Tire Service for several years eventually buying the business that he owned for several years until his retirement. On March 6, 1952, he was married to Marcella "Sally" Dirkse Loofboro, who preceded him in death on July 7, 1984. Surviving are three children, Kenny Hope Loofboro of Delton, Joe Teresa Loofboro of Plainwell and Deb Bill Brown of Plainwell; six grandchildren, Kelli Jason Thomas, Travis Loofboro, Justin Loofboro, Sally Ryan Paff Loofboro, Kyle Shearer and Chad Janelle Archer Shearer; seven great-grandchildren, Blake, Paige, Becca, Alyssa, Justine, Addison and Liam; two brothers, Norman Glenice Loofboro of Cameron, WI and Roger Mayo Loofboro of New Auburn, WI; former spouse, Nancy Loofboro and her family; his longtime sweetie, Christine Grant and her family and several nieces and nephews. Preceding him in death were his wife of 32 years, Sally Loofboro; his parents; two brothers, Elmer and Wynan; and four sisters, Rowena, Winifred, Iola and Leila. A funeral service for John will be held at 11:00 AM on Saturday, February 8, at Langeland Family Funeral Homes, Memorial Chapel, 622 S. Burdick Street. Friends may visit with the family from 4-8 PM on Friday at the funeral home. Private interment will be in Riverside Cemetery, Kalamazoo. In lieu of flowers, John's family requests that a kind word or gesture be made in his memory.
