HOWARD, Mr. John R.
Portage, MI Died Tuesday afternoon January 28, 2014. John was born December 4, 1932 in Morgan County, Alabama a son of Clarence and Martha Hardin Howard. During the Korean War, he served with the U.S. Air Force. He had been a lifelong Kalamazoo area resident and was employed with the U.S. Postal Service for 30 years, retiring in 1988. In 1987, he was united in marriage to Tina Muniz Howard who survives. Also surviving, 7 children, Diana Crawford of Oklahoma, Juanita Lauren Green of Oklahoma, John Brenda Howard, Jr, of Kalamazoo, Jesse Gonzales, Robert Laurie Juarez and Rueben Juarez all of Portage, and Eddie Juarez of Kentucky; 12 grandchildren; several great-grandchildren; 2 brothers, Paul Evangeline Howard of Grand Rapids and Charles Jane Howard of Alabama; a sister, Ola Myland of Kalamazoo; and several nieces and nephews. A funeral Mass will be Celebrated 11 o'clock Saturday at St. Monica Catholic Church, 534 West Kilgore Rd. Visitation will be 2-4 and 6-8 pm Friday at the Langeland Family Funeral Homes, Memorial Chapel, 622 S. Burdick St. Interment will be in Mt. Olivet Cemetery. Memorials may be directed to St. Monica Catholic Church.
