Died Tuesday afternoon June 16, 2020. John was born August 15, 1953 in Aberdeen, Mississippi a son of Nancy C Ford. He had been a Kalamazoo area resident most of his life and was employed with Georgia Pacific for over 27 years before the company left the area, he also worked at Arvco Cont for 9 years. John was a member of Westwood United Methodist Church. He was preceded in death by his grandparents Jeff and Anabelle Ford, his mother, Nancy Stacy; 3 brothers, Anthony, Steve, and David ; and 2 sisters, Angela and Nancy. On April 15, 1972, he was united in marriage to Diane E. (Jupp) Ford who survives. Also surviving, 2 children, Jeffrey (Jennifer) Ford of Greensburg, PA and Jessica (Phillip) Ford-Latterner of Paw Paw, MI; 8 grandchildren;Joshua, Jordan, Thomas, Ashley, Tyler, Celeste, Jamie and EJ and 1 great-grandson Atlas; a sister, Diana (Robert) Ford-Griffin of Kalamazoo, sister in law Donna (Julian) Blair of Kalamazoo; and several nieces, nephews, and cousins and many others who called him family. Memorial services will be held on August 15, 2020 at Westwood United Methodist Church. There will be no visitation. Memorials may be directed to the Kalamazoo County 4H Program in which he was involved with for many years. Over the years he coached and played many sports, enjoyed fishing, golf and being with family. He graduated from Kalamazoo Central High School in 1972, attended KVCC and returned to that college and received his welding certification in 2012.
