John Herman Drenth, Jr.

John died Tuesday morning, September 22, 2020, at Bethesda Ranch Memory Care Facility. He was born March 7, 1934, in Portage, MI a son of John and Jenny (Nuismer) Drenth and had been a lifelong area resident. John was preceded in death by his parents; seven siblings; daughter, Suzanne Detienne; and a son-in-law, Michael Denaway. On June 21, 1955, John married the former Alta Hewson who survives. Also surviving are his children, Faye Drenth-Thurman and her husband, Jerry Thurman, Gayle Denaway, and John C. Drenth; five grandchildren; eleven great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. Visitation and services will be held at Haven Reformed Church, 5350 N. Sprinkle Rd, Kalamazoo MI 49004. All attendees are required to wear masks and keep social distancing as much as possible. Visitation will begin at 10:00 and services will begin at 11:00 Friday morning, September 25, 2020. Private graveside services will be held in Mount Ever-Rest Memorial Park, South. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to Kindred Hospice. Services entrusted to Langeland Family Funeral Homes Burial & Cremation Services, 3926 S 9th St, Kalamazoo, MI 49009.
