John William Clark

Died Saturday morning, August 15, 2020 at Bronson Battle Creek Hospital. John was born April 8, 1929 in Lawton, MI the son of Roscoe and Evelyn (Billiu) Clark. He was a veteran serving in the U.S. Army from March 18, 1947 through August of 1948. John worked for the Eaton Corporation as a maintenance welder from July 24, 1950 until May 1, 1984 due to the plant closing. He then worked for Hilton Plumbing for several years. John loved and was very proud to serve as a volunteer fire fighter at both Northwood and Westwood departments where he retired as Captain. He was a member of Centerpoint Church where he enjoyed serving as an usher. John enjoyed keeping his home and yard in pristine condition, and spending many hours working with wood in his "workshop" making replicas of trucks and cars. He was a loving father who always wanted the best for his children and grandchildren. On September 20, 1947 John was united in marriage to his loving wife, Jennie (Delger) who preceded him in death on December 11, 2009. He was also preceded in death by his parents; a son and daughter-in-law, John, Jr. and Lory Clark; brothers and sisters, Roscoe Jr, Everett Clark, Norma Hardesty, and Shirley James. Surviving are his children, Linda (Herman) Veld of Battle Creek, Nancy (Douglas) Phillips of Parchment, Jeff (Marlene) Clark of Romona, CA; 11 grandchildren; 25 great-grandchildren; 4 great-great grandchildren; sisters and brothers, Wanda (Wiley) White, Robert Clark, Donna (Donnie) Anselmo, Terry Clark, Bonnie Hanley; bro-in-law, Fred James; many nieces and nephews; special friends, Don Martin, Fred James, and Margaret Mastenbrook. Services will be held at 11:00am Friday, August 21 in the Chapel at Centerpoint Church, 2345 North 10th Street (use south entrance). Friends may meet the family from 10:00-11:00am prior to the service. Due to COVID-19, masks will be mandatory for all who plan to attend the visitation or service. Private interment will be in Ft. Custer National Cemetery. Memorials may be directed to Hospice Care of Southwest Michigan or the West Michigan Cancer Center.
