John Edward Bargo

October 25, 1936 — October 10, 2019

John Edward Bargo, 82, of Kalamazoo, passed away at his home on Thursday, October 10, 2019. He was born in Gobles, Michigan, to Edward and Lola Bargo on October 25, 1936. John received his Bachelor of Science and Master of Arts degrees from Western Michigan University. He was a History, Social Studies, and Government teacher for 33 years, 30 of which were spent at Comstock High School. In 1964, he was joined in marriage to Donna Jane McLimans of Livingston, Wisconsin. This March, they celebrated 55 years of marriage. John is survived by his wife, Donna, three daughters: Julie Levin (Joel) of Los Angeles, California, Christina Cunningham (Tom) of Kalamazoo, and Stephanie Measzros (Chris) of Kalamazoo, and five grandchildren: Eliza, Kyle, Isabel, Cara, and Noah. John was a WWII history buff and the Detroit Tigers' #1 Fan. He truly enjoyed spending time with his family and had a lifelong love of animals. John had a wry sense of humor and his snappy comebacks will surely be missed by telemarketers throughout the land. John was a kind soul who will be greatly missed. A memorial gathering to visit with his family will be held from 2 PM to 4 PM on Sunday, October 20, 2019, at Langeland Family Funeral Homes Burial & Cremation Services, 622 S Burdick St, Kalamazoo, MI 49007. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorials be directed to the Kalamazoo Humane Society, 3661 Easy Street, Kalamazoo, Michigan 49001.
