VAN OOYEN, Johanna
of Holland, MI
formerly of Kalamazoo Passed away March 6, 2011 at Freedom Village in Holland, MI. She was born January 4, 1916 in Hillegersberg, the Netherlands, to the late Marinus and Kommertje Uitbeijerse De Bruin. Johanna was united in marriage to Arie Van Ooyen on November 11, 1941. Arie preceded her in death in July of 1988. Johanna was a member of Trinity Reformed Church in Kalamazoo since 1950. She enjoyed volunteering her time and services to the American Red Cross. Surviving Johanna are her children, Jake Jan Van Ooyen of Lewisville, TX, Dr. Marinus Patti Van Ooyen of Adrian, MI, Marianne Phil Burns of Allendale, MI and Connie Czepiel of Seattle, WA; 17 grandchildren; 30 great grandchildren; 6 siblings: Dirkje Daling of South Africa, Sjan Van Gilst of Canada, Jaapja Van Ness, Kommerein Daling, Eet Van Noord and Martyn Kooiman of the Netherlands; daughter-in-law, Pat Van Ooyen; and many nieces and nephews. Preceding Johanna in death were, a son, John Van Ooyen; brother, Huig De Bruin and sister, Mien Kooyman. Services will take place Friday, 11:00 A.M. at Trinity Reformed Church, 326 W. Cork St., Pastor Jacques Nel, officiating. No visitation is scheduled. Private interment will take place at Mt. Ever-Rest Cemetery.
