On Saturday, October 15, 2022 Jerry E. Pennell passed through those pearly gates. He fought his cancer like a warrior.
Jerry is proceeded in death by his Mom, Janice Brandburn Pennell, Father Jerry Pennell, and sister Joy Pennell.
He is survived by his wife, Donna; their four children, Kailee (Chris) Pennell, Kyle (Allyssa) Pennell, Dennis (Tisha) Lewis, Amanda (Tyler) VanHeuvelen, and twelve grandchildren. Also surviving Jerry are his brothers, Jay (Deb) Pennell, Brent Pennell and sisters, Judy (Stan) Taylor, Jane Pennell, and Jill Pennell and many nieces and nephews.
Jerry served his country in the Air Force from 1982-1987 as an ammunition check person.
Family meant everything to Jerry. Whether big or small gatherings, it did not matter to him especially if he was the cook. After marrying Donna, her kids did not like Mom’s cooking anymore after enjoying many of Jerry’s famous recipes. Jerry thought that this was hilarious! Jerry was also known for his delicious baked goods, especially his Pumpkin Roll.
Jerry’s passion was hunting and fishing. This rubbed off on both of his boys. Some of the grandkids have picked up on their Grandfather’s passion for the outdoors as well. Jerry’s face would light up when telling stories about his outdoors adventures.
The Celebration of Jerry’s Life will be held on Saturday, October 22 at 1:00 PM at Kalamazoo Community Church, 2435 N. 26 th Street Kalamazoo, MI 49048. A luncheon will follow the service.
In lieu of flowers, the family would like donations made to either Kalamazoo Community Church or Centrica Care Navigators.
