Kalamazoo Passed away Thursday, December 16, 2010 in Kalamazoo. Jean was born March 14, 1911 in Holland, the daughter of Carl and Katherine Kolean Herman and was a resident of the Kalamazoo area for the past 10 years. She was a music teacher for many years in the Holland, Columbus, Ohio, and Niles-Brandywine school systems. Jean was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Richard; a sister, Mickey Worfel; and a brother, Paul Hooker. Surviving are her children, William Ginger Hill of Portage and Kathy Terry Marshall also of Portage; five grandchildren; nine great grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. Memorial services will be held on Monday at 11:00 AM in the First Reformed Church of Portage, 7905 S. Westnedge Ave., with Pastor Mike Drew officiating. The family will greet family and friends beginning at 10:00 AM Monday at the church. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to Hospice Care of Southwest Michigan or the First Reformed Church of Portage Memorial Fund.
