Died on Saturday, December 26, 2015 at the age of 53, surrounded by his loving family. James was born in Battle Creek on September 23, 1962, the son of James A. Ritchie and Jeanette (Hart) Ritchie. He graduated from Gull Lake High School in 1980. He was co-owner of the family business, Pizza King in Galesburg. He enjoyed fishing, listening to music of all kinds, art, going to museums and studying history. He had a wonderful sense of humor, enjoyed spending time with friends and family, and loved going to the family lake cottage on Stewart Lake. He is survived by his daughter, Penelope Sackett; his mother, Jeanette Ritchie; three sisters, Sheri Ritchie, Cheryl (Steve Reeves) Ritchie and Robin (Bret Liggett) Ritchie; nieces and nephews, Alexander Azizi, Ashley (Derek) Rogers, Shelby (Marshall) Wolfersberger, Tayler (Anthony) Wolfersberger; and one great-niece, Hannah Martin; and many aunts, uncles, cousins and friends. He was preceded in death by his father, James A. Ritchie. Friends may visit with the family from 1-2 p.m. on Wednesday, December 30th at the Langeland Family Funeral Homes, Galesburg Chapel, 145 W. Battle Creek St., Galesburg, MI 49053. A celebration of James' life will follow at 2 p.m., where friends are invited to share stories about James. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be given to the family in care of Jeanette Ritchie.
