James Louis "Jim" Jakeway, 86, of Fort Lauderdale, Florida and Kalamazoo, Michigan died suddenly on Saturday, March 1, 2014 at Broward Health Medical Center in Fort Lauderdale. He was born in Kalamazoo, Michigan on March 21, 1927, son of Philip E. and Helen Staff Jakeway. Raised and educated in Kalamazoo, Jim was a decorated veteran of the US Navy, serving at the end of WWII and the Korean conflict. Before his retirement, Jim was a Manufactures Sales Representative for many years. Jim was a member of the Marine Corps League and St. Monica Catholic Church in Kalamazoo, MI. Surviving are his beloved wife of 59 years, Nannette E. Warmbold Jakeway, children, Michael Cindy Jakeway of Bridgman, Michigan, Patrick Roland Jakeway and his partner, Lawrence Wentworth of Bloomfield Hills, Michigan and Steven Elizabeth Jakeway of Key Biscayne, Florida, grandkids, Brittany Marie, Kelsey Elizabeth and Jeffrey Michael Jakeway. Also survived by two sisters, Sandra Pucci and Rosemarie Jakeway. Proceeded in death by his brother Philip E. Jakeway, Jr. A Funeral Mass will be held on Saturday, June 28, 2014 at 1:00 pm at St. Monica Church, 4408 S. Westnedge Ave., Kalamazoo, MI 49008.
